When I bought the lilacs from the man with the kind face beneath the Hochbahnhof at Schönhauser Allee, he told me to pound the stems ("anklopfen") before putting them in a vase filled with cold water. He reminded me to put away my wallet and then handed over the huge bunch, remarking "They're the last lilacs of the season." There were so many I put a few in an old jar on the windowsill in the stairwell. Let's hope the neighbors don't mind.
Not sure what is more sweet on the top picture!
Your daughter sure is growing!
Regards!
Jo
