This was the summer of gardens. In Potsdam, in Neukölln, in Pankow and in Tempelhof. 4th of July BBQs, birthday parties, leaving parties, Kaffee und Kuchen for no reason other than that sun was out, for once. I come home, tired, with sour cherries, red currants, raspberries and plums.

I lived in Berlin in the early 1990s. We had a garden in Treptow and this post takes me back there. You are right to treasure these spots, I have lived in France for many years now and there is nothing like it here.
